Development programme

‘Connections’ is our development programme. It’s a fast-track management training scheme packed with modules and workshops that will give you the skills, knowledge and confidence to move onwards and upwards. And how fast is ‘fast-track’? Join us as a customer service assistant tomorrow and you could be running your own store in just over three years!

But only if you want to. No-one is forced to move up through the ranks. Many people are happy to give their best at the same level throughout their career with us – and that’s absolutely fine.

There are four steps to the programme:

Step one

The first step is for customer service assistants who have done the job for at least six months and want to become a duty manager. Sixteen weeks practical and theoretical training will show you the ins and outs of this role.

Step two

The second step is for duty managers who have done the job for at least six months and have a deputy store manager role in their sights. A 14-week training programme focuses on the practical side of being a deputy store manager and the skills you’ll need to move up to this level.

Step three

The third step is for deputy store managers who have done the job for at least 12 months and have a burning desire to become retail store managers. Six months training will help you develop the skills and abilities to be brilliant and successful in this role.

Step four

The fourth and final step is for retail store managers who have been in the job for at least two years and fancy moving up, either within our support centre or regionally. Twelve-to-eighteen months training will give you a full understanding of our business, put you in touch with like-minded professionals and help you develop career-boosting management skills.
